Our beginnings began out of our garage in Williamstown, MA in 2007.  We

were making cabinets the old fashioned way with rudimentary tools.  Within a year

we realized we needed to move to a larger space where we could house more

machinery.  In 2008, we moved into the old Cariddi Mill in North Adams, MA.  It was

a neat old industrial space and was definitely a step up from our garage, but it was

still mighty cold and drafty in the winter.  In 2010, we set our sights on the historic

Blackinton Carriage Barn in the heart of North Adams.  It was built in the late 1800s

and was the original carriage house for the Sanford Blackinton Manor, which is now

the North Adams Public Library. 

We purchased the property in September 2011 and immediately began renovations.  The building was only a shell at the time and our goal was to renovate by using reclaimed materials that would have been used in the original construction.  We installed old weathered roofing slate for our entry room floor, salvaged barn board flooring for our design space and reclaimed heart pine flooring for our offices.  For the bathroom, we used vintage bead board as wainscoting and made a custom vanity and matching mirror out of reclaimed lumber.  We still have lots of plans in mind for future renovations (there’s an entire second floor to consider!), but we are loving our new warmer space and are happy to call the historic Carriage Barn our home.
